What’s that song?

music-notesEver been to a restaurant and wondered what music they are playing? Thought of asking the waiter but felt that it would be too much effort and may become awkward. You’re not alone. This lack of independence is felt by many of us everyday.

The solution: Your cell phone + Internet  + Shazam or Midomi

Supported by an extremely vast and ever growing database of music (oh yes, English, Arabic, French, Italian you name it), these killer apps are easily available for a majority of smart phones. I was lucky enough to get Midomi when a free trial was being offered on the Nokia Ovi market. While Shazam only recognizes songs as they are played, Midomi in addition to this feature, can also catch songs when they are sung or hummed.

So the next time you’re shopping, dining, snacking, partying, or simply trying to remember a song to a beat, “smile” :) .
